Alien registration

How to apply: Visit the Office of International Education at Seoyeong University

Documents required

  1. 1All-in-one application form
  2. 2Passport
  3. 3Copy of passport
  4. 41 standard-size photo (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) with white background for alien registration
  5. 5Certificate of enrollment
  6. 6Proof of residence (copy of lease contract, confirmation of dormitory assignment, etc.)
  7. 7Fee: 30,000 won in cash

In case of ⑥, please check with the International Studies Institute as the required documents may vary depending on the residence category.

Items requiring attention

  • Apply within 90 days of the date of arrival (Failure to apply within this period will result in a fine)
  • The Alien Registration Card should be carried whenever you visit or return to your home country temporarily (Departure may be restricted and your visa may be invalidated depending on your nationality if the Card is not carried)
  • If the Alien Registration Card is lost, it must be reissued at Gwangju Immigration and Foreigners’ Office within 14 days. You must apply for a replacement card in person. Details are available on the Hi Korea website (hikorea.go.kr).
  • When returning to your home country after completing your study, you must return the Alien Registration Card to the airport immigration office.

Visa extension (for extending your stay period)

D-4-1 visa (Korean language training course)

  • How to apply: Visit the Office of International Education at Seoyeong University
  • Documents required
    1. 1All-in-one application form
    2. 2Passport
    3. 3Copy of passport
    4. 4Alien Registration Card
    5. 5Certificate of enrollment
    6. 6Transcripts (including attendance records)
    7. 7Proof of finance (6 million won or more deposited in an account in the student’s name at any of the domestic Korean banks only)
    8. 8Proof of residence (copy of lease contract, confirmation of dormitory assignment, etc.)

      If the housing contract is signed in another person’s name, you must submit a copy of the contractor's ID card and the “Confirmation of Residential Accommodation” form along with the contract copy.

    9. 9Fee: 60,000 won in cash
  • Items requiring attention
    • You may apply for an extension beginning one month or earlier before your stay period expires
    • A fine is imposed when you apply for the extension after the stay period expires
    • Attendance rate of 70% or higher is required to apply for an extension

    The documents to be submitted may vary depending on the individual applicants and circumstances. Please check with the Office of International Education in person.

    The students are responsible for all visa-related issues arising from their low attendance rate and inadvertence.

D-2-1 visa (Associate degree courses)

  • How to apply: Visit the International Studies Institute at Seoyeong University
  • Documents required

      If the housing contract is signed in another person’s name, you must submit a copy of the contractor's ID card and the “Confirmation of Residential Accommodation” form along with the contract copy.

  • Items requiring attention
    • When the average score is 2.0 or lower, the student’s sworn statement and the academic adviser’s recommendation letter should be submitted additionally

    The documents to be submitted may vary depending on the individual applicants and circumstances. Please check with the International Studies Institute in person.

    The students are responsible for all visa-related issues arising from their inadvertence.

Change of stay visa (D-4 → D-2)

  • How to apply: Visit the International Studies Institute at Seoyeong University
  • Eligibility: D-4 (language training) visa holders planning to pursue degree programs
  • Documents required
    1. 1All-in-one application form

    3. 3Copy of passport
    4. 4Alien Registration Card
    5. 51 standard-size photo (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) with white background
    6. 6Standardized admission notice form
    7. 7Proof of finance (12 million won or more deposited in an account in the student’s name at any of the domestic Korean banks only)
    8. 8Diploma from the final school attended (official certification required through Apostille or Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China etc.)
    9. 9Transcript or certificate of completion of language training course (D-4 visa) (mandatory to include attendance records)
    10. 10Documents certifying residence (lease contract, certificate of dormitory accommodation, etc.)
    11. 11Fee: 130,000 won in cash

Report of new place of abode

  • How to apply: Apply in person at the Community Resident Center or Gwangju Immigration and Foreigners’ Office within 15 days of moving to the new place of abode.
  • Supporting documents: Application for reporting a new place of abode, passport and alien registration card, and documents proving the new place of abode
